Meet Wildernesses

Wildernesses are Phillip Morris (vocals / lyrics / guitars), Ryan Browne (drums / vocals), Mark Portnoi (bass guitars) and Sam Howe (lead guitars).

Formed from previous projects We Never Learned to Live, Earth Moves and Late Night Fiction, the quartet are signed to Floodlit Recordings, the Manchester label founded by Joe Clayton of post-rock / metal giants Pijn’s. Wildernesses are represented by Hold Tight PR.

Wildernesses layer ‘post-gaze’ instrumentation with cinematic pacing, poetic lyrics and melodic hooks.They aim to capture contrasts - glow and grit, bleakness and beauty - while exploring themes of memory and reflection.

Debuting in May 2025, they released their first single, Four Hour Drive to press acclaim. The band worked with videographer, Stewart Baxter, known four his work with IDLES and Chartreuse, to record visuals for their second single, English Darkness, and were playlisted on BBC Introducing, Total Rock Radio and DKFM Shoegaze Radio, USA.

Wildernesses quickly established their live performance, playing their first big headline show at the O2 Academy Islington in August 2025 and sharing bills with bands like Humour, A Burial at Sea, Indifferent Engine, Pleiades, The Grey, Million Moons and Deathbloom.

Their debut album Growth launches on 27 March 2026. The release will be accompanied by a UK tour and album release party at Folklore, Hoxton (London).
